Here are some of my heartfelt feelings for Nature, who is benevolent, compassionate and nourishes all like a mother. Omnipresent and omnipotent, Mother Nature manifests itself in everything a human perceives in any form. The outpourings are in the form of a poem, which should resonate with the readers and everyone who loves Nature and emphatically wants to protect and save Nature.
The poem expresses deep appreciation and reverence for Nature. It is like a benevolent mother which sustains all life. The piece emphasises Nature’s omnipresence and power and warns of the adverse consequences due to human neglect. Environmental degradation disrupts the natural balance and climate. The poetic reflection is an endeavour to acknowledge Nature’s gifts while pleading for forgiveness for humanity’s transgressions. Ultimately, the piece serves as a heartfelt thanksgiving, urging readers to recognise and protect the invaluable treasures that Nature offers.
Besides being compassionate and benevolent, Nature is seen in red in tooth and claw. It ruthlessly punishes in case humans repeatedly flout norms and are callous regarding the misuse of natural resources. Excessive extraction of natural wealth without replenishing it causes serious and lopsided changes in the weather cycles, seasonal changes and increasing global temperature.
The piece is a thanksgiving. Feeling overwhelmed and ecstatic on the bounties Nature gives us, it is a petty goodwill gesture for it.
O Mother,
Devine and compassionate,
I bow to thee and express
My deep gratitude for Your
Bounties You bestow upon us,
And,
Your benevolence.
Omnipresent and omnipotent,
You are in every living and non-living,
Shining and glowing.
Your pavonine and vibrant presence
Grace us and fill us with vigour,
Your glory keeps shining.
I see you in smiling flowers,
Hovering insects,
Kaleidoscope of butterflies, and
In drops of rain and dew.
You show in the refreshing breeze,
In floral fragrance and
In humming bumble bees.
You quench our thirst with the fresh waters of
Rivers, ponds and lakes;
Nourish us with sweet fruits
And,
Healthy grains.
You love us and always stay with us,
Every time and everywhere.
Forgive us for our sins,
We are brats, but your children.
I prostrate before you, the one.
Who is generous and sympathetic.
O Mother,
The vast and wide,
Enchanting and charming,
Considerate and caring,
Be kind to us.
