Nature's Narrative

Telling the story of our planet

One and only entity that governs the whole universe is Nature. Some have personified Nature as Almighty who is omnipotent and omnipresent. I endearingly prefer to call Mother Nature who is caring and benevolent. She takes care of and nourishes us all.

As a member of the great family, we must respect and care for every element of Mother Nature. Felling trees causes habitat destruction, ultimately leading to a big and irrevocable destruction. It needs to be managed scientifically to keep a harmonious equilibrium.

Here comes the LiFE, which is Lifestyle for Environment.

I endeavour to create impactful, quality writing pieces to instigate the thought process. It is how I want to contribute my bit to the social and environmental cause.

Come, embark on the journey with me. You will enjoy it, I am sure.

Embracing Change: A Natural Life Principle

What’s a topic or issue about which you’ve changed your mind?

The content discusses the inevitability and significance of change in life and nature. It emphasises that growth from infancy to adulthood requires both inner and outer transformations. Change happens imperceptibly, like the gradual erosion of rocks. It also occurs suddenly, like natural disasters. Life thrives on change, which introduces vibrancy and prevents monotony. Humans experience perceptual changes influenced by experiences that shape relationships and behaviours. Accepting change is essential for personal growth, akin to a butterfly’s metamorphosis. Ultimately, embracing change leads to meaningful advancements, necessitating a mature acknowledgement of life’s dynamic nature for a fulfilling existence.

Key Takeaways

  • Change is a natural aspect of life, affecting physical, mental, and emotional states.
  • Imperceptible changes can be significant, while rapid changes can lead to disasters.
  • Accepting change with grace helps in personal growth and rejuvenation.
  • Wholehearted acceptance of change is crucial, as it enables transformation and adaptability.
  • Embracing change leads to a richer and more vibrant life experience.

Introduction

A newborn grows to become a preschooler. The growth journeys through stages of the infant and toddler. Throughout the journey, a newborn undergoes both inner and outer changes. Embracing change plays a vital part in this process. The physical appearance, mental capabilities and perception changes. It is fundamental and intrinsic that gives dynamism to the natural world.

Imperceptible but significant

The shifting of things or movement causes change. The speed is immaterial whether it is fast or slow. Most natural occurrences are imperceptible, yet they keep working and changing things. Glaciers move and melt to form rivers. Flowing rivers grind boulders to pebbles, and finally to sand. Deserts expand. These and many more natural phenomena are slow and imperceptible but impactful. Fast changes, on the other hand, are swift and occasionally disastrous. Volcanic eruptions, meteorite hits, earthquakes and the like are swift and powerful. Gradual changes bring long-lasting impact. It is clear from the fact that the Earth evolved as the most life-sustaining planet in the known universe.

Life continuously changes

Life is eternal but changing. The oxymoron says a lot. Change adds dynamics to life, vibrancy and buoyancy. Retaining is stealing. A body of stagnant water becomes lifeless and stinky while a free-flowing stream is vibrant. Unlike the former, the latter sustains life and is pure and lively. It is this, that fuels the wish to live life to its fullest.

Change is natural

Things, scenarios and organisms are prone to change. Being at the top, with highly developed brains and logic, human beings equally change. This changes their behaviour, relationships and the manner they think and act. The slightest change amplifies and resonates; percolates down and affects the surroundings including those in a relationship. An effort to curb this flow is like building a dam across a river. Although it seems beneficial in several ways, it poses a danger to life and property eventually. Breached dams cause havoc. So are the relationships and aspects related to it. It affects in a cascading manner. (Healthy psychology)

(1) Perceptual change

The shift in perception about an object, individual, or even a thought process is widely accepted. It is inherently organic. Nevertheless, it takes an ugly shape when the actions defy reality. The reality is not what we preach, but what we practice. There is a gap, or rather a trench, that leads to convolution in life. A free-flowing stream takes a sideways or alternate path when hindered. It exhibits the same way in a human’s life as well.

No to Monotony

Like all other changes, attitudinal change and way of thinking majorly affect an individual. A routine becomes a part of the psyche and leads to monotony. Monotony causes dullness and lethargy.

(1) Reflex action

Biological functions like heartbeat, enzyme secretion et cetera are involuntary. In contrast, tasks related to human behaviour are often routine and monotonous. The biological roles are involuntary and necessary for life. It doesn’t need mental effort, but it works like a machine. The proclivity is a positive process for learning and inculcating good things in a way that it becomes a reflex. Suddenly pushing the brake paddle in emergent conditions is a reflex action. The acquired instinct is good because of its necessity, and Nature allows it for a broader welfare.

Accepting Change

Change in viewpoint is imperative. It changes the perception and habit. A very close and dear person can become wicked or vice versa. People come into life; they affect, and, with time, part ways. It apparently leaves a void that takes time to heal. Time is a great ointment that helps in fast recovery and moving on. The past haunts and the past moments come to mind as a nostalgic feeling. It gives a sweet pain. Nevertheless, change needs to be accepted with prudence and grace.

(1) Wholehearted acceptance

Once chosen, change needs to be accepted wholeheartedly. Sticking to the same old routine is unmindful. A butterfly experiences four stages in its lifecycle. It begins as an egg and transforms to a larva. It then becomes a pupa and finally emerges as a beautiful winged adult. The transformation turns it into a vibrant, energetic being that pollinates and brings joy. Nature is a great teacher; her teachings reverberate which needs to be perceived.

(2) Moving On

Leaving the past behind and moving on helps in rejuvenation. A change conditions the brain to the prevailing situation. The changing scenario continues with a gradual but impactful transition. Taking a dip in the same water of a stream is not possible. Likewise, encountering the same person after a long gap is just as unlikely. Considering a situation where two friends meet after a gap of, say, four decades. Their life is changed. The thing they intensely feel lacking is the warmth of their old days. With the changed lifestyle, appearance, attitude, work and acquaintances, they try to pick up the thread where they left. Nevertheless, while doing so, they follow an unseen protocol that naturally creeps in. Reunion is not the same all the time. Time leaves an indelible mark, difficult to remove. The change needs to be accepted and embraced wholeheartedly.

In the end

Being an integral part of the universe, change is inevitable. The merits of embracing change need to be considered. At a mature stage, acceptance is necessary for a relevant and satisfying conclusion.
