Nature's Narrative

Telling the story of our planet

One and only entity that governs the whole universe is Nature. Some have personified Nature as Almighty who is omnipotent and omnipresent. I endearingly prefer to call Mother Nature who is caring and benevolent. She takes care of and nourishes us all.

As a member of the great family, we must respect and care for every element of Mother Nature. Felling trees causes habitat destruction, ultimately leading to a big and irrevocable destruction. It needs to be managed scientifically to keep a harmonious equilibrium.

Here comes the LiFE, which is Lifestyle for Environment.

I endeavour to create impactful, quality writing pieces to instigate the thought process. It is how I want to contribute my bit to the social and environmental cause.

Come, embark on the journey with me. You will enjoy it, I am sure.

Imagining Life Without Computers: A Deep Dive

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

Most of the modern age people do not realize how complex things happen to ease the doings in day-to-day life. Be it booking a flight ticket, cinema ticket, or rail ticket to anything on this earth, all take seconds to fulfil. It has become a way of life that too swiftly and conveniently.

Starting from Charles Babbage when the first computing machine was invented, till now computers have progressed and refined tremendously. Initially, it was on the runway until the late twentieth century, but after that, it started running to take off and then there was no looking back. Computers have now penetrated deep to become an inseparable part of our lives, making it easier and more manageable. After they started their pivotal role in the rail reservation system, the advancement of computers has been phenomenal; they have entered every field. They are everywhere from medicine to finance and banking to defence, space, entertainment to personal affairs. It is impossible to imagine a world without computers.

The progression of computers is aggressively fast. They zoomed in on our lives and caught hold of every aspect, leaving no area untouched. They are now not only machines that follow GIGA (Garbage In, Garbage Out), but they can apply logic and solve problems through interactive dialogue. AI (Artificial Intelligence) has become more personal and human-like. One can chat with a chatbot, share views and ideas and seek advice and suggestions on any topic, including emotional and family matters. They effortlessly work with ease, though AI is still evolving and developing.

Computer chip-fitted cars, office and home automation have given a feeling of confidence and convenience with speed. Smart, methodical computers have shrunk in palms, making things so easy that anyone can access things easily even on the go. It literally brought the world in the fist. From the cumbersome huge machines that took a lot of space to today’s microcomputers, wafer-thin laptops, tablets and smartphones, they have drastically changed their shape and size, in a short period of a decade or two. To make it more effective, wearables have taken centre stage. They can be put on like a wristwatch and do many vital functions, even offering endless entertainment when a person needs them.

It is not that everything is rosy and good. Like all other inventions, computers are threatening as well. Loss of connection, or server down are frequent problems. Nonetheless, continuous R&D is fixing bugs and improving their functionality. Recently because of the “Global IT Outage” the global computer system crashed due to a faulty software update causing widespread disruption to businesses, airlines, hospitals and other services. A piquant situation arose causing inconveniences. Besides this, the hackers are on the prowl.

Computers have helped significantly in self-improvement by making things reachable swiftly and accurately. A learner needs not to waste time and continuity. Students have largely benefitted from this, and even senior citizens have found meaning in their lives by involving and learning things close to heart that were difficult to reach. In a dispassionate evaluation of the positives and negatives of computers, the balance is seen tilted more towards its positives – the benefits. Minor glitches are occasional and rare; computers have evolved as a boon to society.

So, turning to the prompt, “Your life without a computer: what does it look like?” and answering it would be an emphatic YES in the approbation of computers. Life can’t be thought about without computers which are vital for running it. Life would not only be dull and boring but quite impossible as well.
