Nature's Narrative

Telling the story of our planet

One and only entity that governs the whole universe is Nature. Some have personified Nature as Almighty who is omnipotent and omnipresent. I endearingly prefer to call Mother Nature who is caring and benevolent. She takes care of and nourishes us all.

As a member of the great family, we must respect and care for every element of Mother Nature. Felling trees causes habitat destruction, ultimately leading to a big and irrevocable destruction. It needs to be managed scientifically to keep a harmonious equilibrium.

Here comes the LiFE, which is Lifestyle for Environment.

I endeavour to create impactful, quality writing pieces to instigate the thought process. It is how I want to contribute my bit to the social and environmental cause.

Come, embark on the journey with me. You will enjoy it, I am sure.

Introduction

A few days ago, he was on a voyage, nay, a road trip. The long-awaited trip was exciting for him, as he enjoys driving. The way a closed body with four wheels runs smoothly on the road and takes him to places thrills him. Sitting behind the wheel, he, as a driver, controls the speed, direction and occasionally stops the vehicle. The car is old but maintained and is his prized possession.

Journey

(a) Scenic view

His car was swiftly gliding on the highway. It passed through picturesque campestral, green fields and sometimes through habitation. He felt that the modern highway doesn’t pass through crowded city areas. Instead, it bypassed the habitation and moved hassle-free, without hindrance. While driving, his mind was running equally fast. Many things were coming to his mind. Sitting beside him, his spouse was dozing.

(b) Independence

The fast-expanding urban areas, galloping economy and consequent increase in affluence have made life easy and fast. People are no longer dependent upon public transport and wait endlessly. They simply have to pack their bags, stash them in their car and move. Besides giving them freedom and convenience, it gives them pleasure and value to life, too.

(c) The progression

With each pace that humanity takes, it moves ahead towards development and progress. The progression gives mental satisfaction and free rein to creativity. New inventions and improvements in existing technology are quite helpful. Like the imaginary Genie, they are always at the service of people. They cut short the time with utmost possible comfort and speed. This has given wings to humans.

Satisfaction is bliss

The moments of satisfaction and contentment are blissful and priceless. The happiness and joy they get from their preferred activity become an asset and add significant value to life. They keep it safe, enclosed within their heart. It is not necessarily very costly or expensive. It is, nevertheless, essential to have them to get the highest output with minimal effort and less time.

Longing for betterment

People buy various things that suit their requirements and are useful for better performance. Some opt for an expensive course, some go to gyms, while others buy costly cameras and recording instruments. On careful observation, it is clear that everyone wants betterment in their work or profession. Gadgets are easily available on https://amzn.to/47TycFB. The improved training course, instrument or gadget helps them achieve their goal. Materialistically, it seems costly, but for them it is an investment that multiplies many times when it starts fruiting. Their refinement in their job elevates them to the next level.

Struggle and success

(a) Resources are crucial

The stories of struggle and success often hit the headlines and attract eyeballs. An insignificant-looking individual suddenly becomes an icon. It is not always the material things that are vital. The important thing is the individual’s commitment, missionary zeal and hard work. These are important elements that significantly contribute to the success. At the same time, good training, equipment and congenial environments are also important. It comes with a price. Money and resources are crucial for elevating performance. They help a raw person become a refined and agile sportsperson. They also aid in transforming them into an actor, businessperson, scientist, or leader and politician.

(b) Part of crowd

He is also a part of the motley crowd who wanted to excel. With blurred aims, he wanted to do something offbeat but was oblivious about his goals. His goal was not fixed, and neither were his priorities. Things would attract him, but judgmental lack always came in his way. He couldn’t give his best for anything that he liked. Lack of resources added their share. He would often daydream about a person who used to be at the centre of affairs and people thronged him. His early days of life were spent wading through poverty. His desires had no meaning, but dreaming never leaves him. He tried his best to get something that could accord him recognition.

(c) Material things are crucial

Material things are not important but play a crucial role in adding value to life. During his childhood, his most expensive things used to be “Gur-Patti” (Groundnut brittle), which he couldn’t manage to get often. In those days, parents commonly did not give children a “pocket expense”, fearing the child would become a brat. Contrary to that, there were children of his age who did not have such a “stringent” obstruction. He would feel deprived. This and many more things piled up and cemented together to cover his budding personality.

(d) Realty need to be faced

The aim is absolutely not to demean anyone or tell the story of poverty and deprivation to evoke emotional arousal. It is a reality that many people have faced, and are facing. To some, it may also appear like a messy and aimless account of anyone’s past. It is, nevertheless, important to tell the stories of the deprived who died thousands of deaths and crushed their wishes. (Brainapps)

Senescence

Sitting idly under the shade of senescence and looking back, one realises how far one has come. The reminiscences about the past bring many sweet-sour moments. The reflections bring tears, sometimes smiles. The things that were beyond reach appear very near, but then waning wishes do not tempt them to have. Expensive or not expensive – it becomes meaningless. Past reflection also allows for comparison of the difficulties of people vis-à-vis themselves. It looks like a tiny spec in comparison to others who are still wriggling to come out of the slush.

The story

(a) Agile boy

Suddenly, a picture emerged on his mental screen. It was the boy who was agile and full of vigour in his childhood and youth. The child had many dreams and he was trying hard to realise them. A jolly person, the child used to smile, laugh and enjoy.

(b) Two decades after

After a gap of two decades, both met in an event. The agile boy was now an aged person with grizzled, tousled hair and irregular stubble of a beard. His wife was a frail, irascible lady. Both had a child who was ailing with an incurable disease.

(c) Mentally and physically weak progeny

The child’s body was incapable of making protein, causing him to become physically and mentally weak. He was fully dependent upon his parents, who had a faint hope. They have fully dedicated themselves to their child.

(d) Prized possession

They seemed to be dragging their life but had not lost hope. The most important and prized possession for them was nothing but the health of their only child. The child should be capable of moving and doing his work on his own. This independence would add value to his life. It ensures that after his parents are gone, he will not be a burden on society.

True value is not in the price tag

Gauging a thing in material terms is easy, but it doesn’t give its true value. The value of a thing is not in its price tag but in its importance at a crucial time. A drowning person needs quick help and prompt first aid to save their life. It doesn’t matter whether the things are expensive or not. A rope and a simple blade can save a precious life. A few drops of antiseptic and lots of care and medical aid are also crucial. These things are the most expensive then.

Life is priceless

The most precious thing is one’s life. No amount of wealth can compete with it. At times, wealth doesn’t prove worthy. An ailing person knows better than anyone else. So, scaling a thing’s importance in terms of its being expensive is not a perfect idea. It is rather futile and doesn’t add value to life.
