Water bodies are suffering from eutrophication, resulting in the growth of harmful algae and hypoxia, leading to the demise of biomes and water bodies. The scarcity of potable drinking water is a looming threat post-pandemic. Efforts to mitigate this include the Ministry of Jal Shakti Mission and the “Amrit Sarovar” scheme initiated by Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi.
